1.- What exactly is dry steam?

It refers to water vapor generated at very high temperatures and high pressure, resulting in steam with very low moisture content, with minimal or no liquid water droplets, unlike the wet steam from a conventional steamer.

2.- Why is it called “dry” steam if it is water?

It is called dry because it is at such a high temperature that most of the water molecules are in a gaseous state, steam, and not in a liquid state, droplets. And in the context of cleaning, it means that the treated surface is practically dry instantly, unlike wet steam, conventional steam, which has more moisture, leaves surfaces wet and requires subsequent drying.

3.- What is the main difference between dry steam and normal wet steam?

The main difference is in the temperature and moisture content. Dry steam is generated at higher temperatures and pressures, at 160°C in the boiler, and contains much less liquid water than wet steam, which can have up to 25% moisture.

4.- How does dry steam clean and disinfect?

Cleaning is achieved through a combination of high temperature, which dissolves grease and dirt and kills pathogens, and high pressure, which loosens particles. Disinfection occurs through thermal shock: the high temperature, generally above 160°C at the nozzle outlet, eliminates bacteria, viruses, germs, and parasites such as mites.

5.- What surfaces can be cleaned with dry steam?

It is very versatile and can be used on most heat- and moisture-resistant surfaces, such as joints and tiles, hard floors, glass, faucets, countertops, metals, range hoods, resistant upholstery, carpets, mattresses, and curtains.

6.- What surfaces should NOT be cleaned with dry steam?

Surfaces that are sensitive to heat or moisture, such as paper, cardboard, some untreated or poorly sealed woods, delicate or very old painted surfaces, and certain plastics or very thin fabrics. It is recommended to test on an inconspicuous area first.

7.- Is it safe for me and the environment?

Yes! It is an environmentally friendly cleaning method as it removes dirt and disinfects without the use of harsh chemicals. Only caution is required when handling the machine due to the high temperature of the steam to avoid burns.

8.- Does it completely replace chemical cleaning products?

In many cases, yes, for disinfecting and cleaning common dirt. However, for very encrusted dirt or very thick layers of limescale, pre-treatment with a degreaser or mild acid, such as vinegar or citric acid, may be necessary before applying the steam.

9.- Does it leave residue or streaks?

No. Due to its low humidity and the fact that it does not use detergents, it minimizes streaks and leaves no chemical residue. The small amount of moisture produced can be easily absorbed with a quality microfiber cloth.

10.- Is it effective for cleaning grease?

Yes! It is highly effective at cleaning grease, even the most stubborn. The high temperature of the steam dissolves and emulsifies grease and oils quickly.

11.- What type of water should be used in the steam cleaner?

Ideally, distilled or demineralized water is recommended, especially if the water in your area is hard, i.e., with a lot of limescale and minerals. This helps prevent calcification and extends the life of the appliance. However, the EV Atlantis works perfectly with regular tap water.

12.- Does the surface need time to dry after cleaning?

Drying time is minimal, as dry steam contains very little moisture. Surfaces are almost instantly dry.

13.- Can I use essential oils or disinfectants in the water tank?

Generally, no. Most manufacturers warn against using any product other than pure water in the tank, as it can damage the boiler or void the warranty. If the equipment allows it, additives should be placed in a separate tank or applied externally.
